What's in My Bag

The author empties his bag for LOOK. The book is not in it. The book does not leave the house.

Not in the bag: the book. Also not in the bag: the whisky.

"People always ask if I carry the book around," he says. "No. It's the only copy. It stays home. Here's what I do carry."

1. Keys. To the flat where the book is.

Chocolates. For the buyer. Do not eat.

2. A receipt. For printing one copy. "I keep it to remind myself that I stopped at one."

3. Chocolates. For the buyer, if one ever turns up. Do not eat.

4. A business card. It says dad-look.com. That's all it says.

5. A list of everyone who hasn't bought the book yet. "It's long," he says. "It's everyone."
